How I make lunches

Making lunches can be such a pain, I don't really enjoy the task.  Other than maybe the 1st day or two after grocery shopping!  After that I have to get creative!  People often ask about the lunches I pack, so I thought I would share.  I like to make lunches before I go to bed because there just isn't time in the morning.

First, lay out all my lunch boxes, from Left to right:
My 1st grader, 3rd grader, 6th grader and mine
(Hubby gets free lunches at work!)
The brands are:
Bentgo, Off-brand, Yumbox Tapas, Ziploc

Then I lay out my ingredients.  I realized as I started making the lunches that I had forgotten a few of the items.
Here I have; leftover pizza, blueberries & blackberries, pepper strips, carrots, cheese, peanut butter, tiny cookies, lunchmeat and bread.

Not pictured:  Pepperoni, cucumber slices, Nut Thins crackers and Hummus

I try to peel and slice all the veggies at once and then store them in containers in the fridge, so when it comes time to make lunches all I have to do is pull out the containers and pull from them.  This way I am not slicing and dicing late at night when I am tired at more at risk of slicing and dicing a finger!  Or in the morning when things are already hectic.

You can see that everyone got a little variation of everything that I pulled out.  My 6th grader got a turkey & cheese sandwhich, while the 1st grader got a PB sandwhich (his favorite).  I usually ask them if they think this is enough to eat and we can always add more if they think they need it.  Usually they eat small lunches at school and have a snack and then supper at home.

All stacked and prepped in the fridge for tomorrow!

Here is another days worth of lunches.

Ideally I would make several days of lunch at one time, but I do not have the extra containers to do that.  When all I had was the Ziploc containers I could make 6 lunches at a time.  However they aren't my favorite only because the don't hold up that well.

I just recently purchased the Bentgo brand box for my 1st grader and he loves it.  I will probably get my 3rd grader a verson of the Yumbox because it is a little bit bigger.

Here are the Amazon links for my lunchboxes.  They are affiliate links so I may get a small portion when you buy.
